Definition: Bhadra Yoga is formed when Mercury is placed in Kendra or Quadrant houses or 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house from Lagna or the Ascendant AND Mercury should be either its own sign or in its sign of exaltation.

Results: This is a fortunate or favorable combination. It will give the person all the positive results of things signified by Mercury. Mercury is the natural significator of intelligence, education, communication, travels and younger cousins and siblings. Therefore the person will be a good and intelligent speaker having eloquence in speech and well educated. Even if the person dose not has academic qualifications, he will have sharp intelligence and a retentive memory. He will be efficient in solving problems and will find out better working methods. He will have many travels and will gain from such travels. He will have good relationship with siblings all through his life.

Remarks: This is one of the Panch Maha Purusha Yoga in Vedic Astrology. The total number of Panch Maha Purusha Yoga are five as Panch means five. For Bhadra Yoga to form in any horoscope, two conditions had to be fulfilled. Mercury has to be in 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th houses. Apart from being placed in any of these 4 houses, Mercury has to be in either Gemini or Virgo as these are its own and exaltation signs. Some astrologers consider this yoga can be formed from Moon also but this is not the case in real life.

As per above definition of Bhadra Yoga, it can be seen that this yoga will only occur if one have Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces Ascendants or Lagna. This can be verified as follows:

Gemini Ascendant will obviously put Gemini in 1st and Virgo in 4th house and both are a Kendra or Quadrant House.

Virgo Ascendant will obviously put Virgo in 1st and Gemini in 10th house and both are a Kendra or Quadrant House.

Sagittarius Ascendant put Gemini in 7th house and Virgo in 10th house and both are a Kendra or Quadrant House.

Pisces Ascendant put Gemini in 4th house and Virgo in 7th house and both are a Kendra or Quadrant House.

Activation of Bhadra Yoga: Bhadra yoga will get activated when two conditions are fulfilled simultaneously, Mercury major period or Maha Dasha or its sub periods has to occur along with favorable transits occurring to Mercury.
